In most cases, defecating green feces during pregnancy is something one should not worry about and so a trip to the doctor isn't necessary. It is usually the food or extra iron consumption that causes green bowel movement during pregnancy. After delivery, reducing the consumption of green vegetables and stopping the intake of supplements often works to restore normal stool color. However, if that doesn't help, seeking medical advice at the earliest is recommended.
Constipation can be a frustrating problem for adults and children alike. Constipation in young ones, especially babies is even more annoying, as they cannot express the symptoms. Naturally, the frequency of bowel movement and the texture of stool, are the only means of identifying if your child is constipated or not. Low-fiber diet, inadequate fluid intake, are some of the common causes of constipation in little ones. In adults, stool softeners are often used to cure this digestive problem. However, while using a stool softener for children one has to be extra careful, and as far as possible, rely upon natural remedies.
The food that we eat is broken down into smaller particles with the help of wave-like muscle contractions that push food particles further down from the esophagus to the stomach. This process helps in churning food into a liquid mixture called chyme. As chyme moves back and forth in the small intestine, nutrients are extracted and assimilated into the bloodstream. The wave-like contractions in the large intestine facilitate the absorption of water into the bloodstream, and the waste that is left behind after the absorption of chyme and extraction of water, is excreted out of the body in the form of stool. Stool is the principle waste product of digestion.
Indigestion can be a reason behind green colored stool. Indigestion may cause diarrhea but it is common and can be cured easily. In children, problem with digestive health is very frequently, hence green color stool is very common in them.
