Daft Punk has a little brother and he plays music
I found recently an interesting article on French Music Blog written by Swing Your Soul (interesting name by the way) which outlined that Guy-Emmanuel De Homen-Cristo from Daft Punk has a little brother in the music biz known as Play Paul.
Upon listening to his music on myspace, it seemed that Play Paul is quite fond of Deep hardcore Electro, however he recently teamed up with Danish singer Leslie Ming to form Ryskee.
Their only track to date “Leave me amor” is quite different from Play Paul usual musical spectrum and tend to have aimed at the less underground crowds….
I think it s a bit too dancy for me but can see how it could work on some dance floors.
I ll leave this up to your own judgement however we can say that quality music creativity is not hereditary, while Daft Punk has imposed its style on a global scale, Play Paul seems to want to adapt himself to the masses….
Underground music does not pay off anymore unfortunately.
I absolutely love French Music and believe that there are a lot of unknown talents out there. Although I appreciate the fact that Play Paul is not overly playing on the fact that he has a brother in Daft Punk’s outfit, I still think that to my own personal taste he is not up to the quality standards France can produce.
The new trend in French Electro seems to go towards Elector Funk (or Power pop as some may call it) and since Breakbot signed to EdBanger earlier this year, this genre has got better exposure and there are a lot of guys out there waiting to be heard in this niche music style.
